Why I’m running for the IPS Board.

Every child deserves someone in their corner.

Dear Indianapolis families and neighbors,

About Angelia Moore

Every child deserves a compassionate, tough fighter in their corner. That’s why our IPS schools need Angelia (Anjee) Moore.

As an IPS mother and alum, Anjee Moore has stood strong for the needs of her own children. But she’s also fought for the rights and well-being of so many others while serving as a court-appointed advocate for our city’s most vulnerable children.

Anjee’s career tells a story: she was put on this Earth to show up for children who are being left behind or mistreated by the system. Her work is driven by the core belief that every child has a fundamental right to thrive and reach their full potential.

Anjee is now taking on a public education system where less than 1 in 5 economically disadvantaged students is testing on grade level. Anjee is fighting to hold all public schools to account for improving education outcomes while working to expand transportation so more students can access higher performing schools in the district. She’s also gearing up for a battle with Indiana lawmakers, who have short-changed IPS in paying for special education services for far too long.

In this push to dramatically improve education outcomes for children in IPS, we need Democrat Anjee Moore in our corner.

“Great schools don't just help students. They strengthen neighborhoods, support property values, improve public safety, and create opportunity for the next generation.”

What Angelia Moore is fighting for

Putting children first starts with changing a system that is failing them.

Greater accountability and transparency

Families deserve clear information, honest communication, and confidence that decisions are focused on student success.

Safer schools with better support for the whole child

Students learn best when they feel safe, supported, and connected. That means focusing on mental health, student well-being, and removing barriers to learning.

Recruiting great teachers and paying them what they deserve

Educators are the top factor in driving student outcomes. That’s why we need to increase educator pay and make recruiting and retaining teacher talent a top priority.

Expanded transportation and access to quality schools

Families should be able to access educational opportunities that meet the needs of their children.

Special education and student support services

Every learner deserves the tools, resources, and support needed to reach their full potential.

Why this matters

Quality public schools change lives.

Every parent wants their child to have the opportunity to succeed.

Strong and effective public schools help make that possible. They prepare students for good-paying jobs and – more importantly – help shape the leaders, friends and citizens they will become in the future.

There is no better or more effective way to improve Indianapolis’ future than to ensure its youth are gaining access to highly effective public schools in the communities they live in. A well-trained workforce, a thriving local economy, safer neighborhoods – they all begin with how we’re supporting and educating our children in all schools within the Indianapolis Public Schools boundary.

We have a lot of work to do to improve educational opportunity in IPS. All too often, ZIP code, income level and background are indicators of whether or not a student is likely achieving at or below grade-level. We must close this opportunity gap in our city, and it begins with ensuring the right leadership on the IPS board.

That's why Angelia (Anjee) Moore is committed to:

  • Taking on systems and political agendas that are not prioritizing the real needs of children
  • Creating stronger partnerships between schools, families, and communities
  • Measuring results and improving accountability across IPS and all school types
  • Strengthening special education and student support services
  • Raising teacher pay and giving educators the freedom to do their jobs effectively
“Every child deserves someone who will stand up for them, especially when they cannot stand up for themselves.”
